Theological Commission of the Synod of Bishops of the Old Catholic Confederation

The Theological Commission of the Synod of Bishops of the Old Catholic Confederation includes the following membership: 1) All elected bishops of the Synod of Bishops of the Old Catholic Confederation, 2) The Canon Theologian of the Old Catholic Confederation, 3) Theologians (clerical and lay) appointed by the Primate of the Old Catholic Confederation and 4) Honorary Theological Consultants (clerical and lay) appointed by the Primate of the Old Catholic Confederation.


The Theological Commission advises the Synod of Bishops on all theological matters and assists the bishops in their teaching office, and especially with official theological publications.


By the Supreme authority of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through Apostolic Succession, the Theological Commission of the Synod of Bishops of the Old Catholic Confederation holds the canonical power to grant ecclesiastical degrees "ad dignitatis" to those candidates Elected to the Holy Episcopate.


The Theological Commission of the Synod of Bishops of the Old Catholic Confederation also grants canonical Licensure to the educational institutions of the Old Catholic Confederation. The following institutions and faculties are Licensed by the Theological Commission:

The School of Divinity of the Collegium Augustinianum

The Faculty of Philosophy of the Collegium Augustinianum

The Faculty of Theology of the Collegium Augustinianum

The Faculty of Canon Law of the Collegium Augustinianum

The Institute for Old Catholic Theology
