Mission Statement of the Old Catholic Confederation
We, the faithful of the Old Catholic Church in the United States, in Communion with the College of Bishops of the Old Catholic Confederation, are baptized Christians of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church founded by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
As a community of witnesses of the orthodox Christian faith, we embrace the authority of the Holy Gospel and the sacred Tradition of the Apostles, faithful to the first seven Ecumenical Councils, professing the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed in its original ancient formula. In the words of St. Vincent de Lerins, "Id teneamus, quod ubique, quod semper, quod ab omnibus creditum est; hoc est etenim vere proprieque catholicum." (Let us hold that which is everywhere, which is always, which is believed by all; indeed, this is truly and properly Catholic.), professing the faith of the ancient Church.
Our mission is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people and to minister to our brothers and sisters in Christ with the Sacraments of the Church, most especially in the Celebration of the divine Liturgy of the Holy Eucharist, for our conversion, salvation and communion with God.
As Christians, we are committed to the service of humanity, and especially the poor, the needy and all those who suffer oppression, by our prayerful solicitude and works of love and mercy, so that we might contribute to peace and justice on earth.
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, through the intercession of the Holy Theotokos, we dedicate ourselves to a life of penance, love and forgiveness.
