Office of Heraldry & Protocol

The Office of Heraldry and Protocol was established by the Synod of Bishops of the Old Catholic Confederation in order to maintain tradition, identity, uniformity and rationality in ecclesiastical heraldry and protocol.

The Rev. Canon Terence McGovern is the Master of Ceremonies and Chief Protocol Officer for the Archdiocese of the United States of the Old Catholic Confederation.

At the recommendation of the Master of Ceremonies and Chief Protocol Officer, the Archbishop makes motu propio appointments of "Pages of Honor" for young men between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one, who are members of the Archbishop's Episcopal Household and serve in a ceremonial capacity during pontifical liturgies and other occasions. The Archbishop's Pages of Honor usually wear morning dress with white gloves.

Gentlemen over the age of twenty-one, may be appointed to serve in a similar capacity for life as "Chamberlain to the Archbishop." These appointments require the recommendation of one's local pastor.
